PRIME MINISTER PRAYUT Chan-o-cha has been earning handsome allowances for meetings of dozens of government committees which he concurrently chairs in addition to his monthly salary, according to Somchai Srisuthiyakorn, Thai Liberal Party’s head of policy-steering campaign.

Somchai today (July 16) posted on his Facebook to disclose that Prayut was reported to concurrently chair as many as 52 government committees each of which pays him 10,000 baht in allowance per meeting.

But the premier could practically attend and chair no more than two meetings of each of those government committees in a year, given so many panels which he concurrently chairs in addition to his routine duties at Government House, the former election commissioner commented.

I'm far more interested in where he got the billions than the 500,000 baht for 52 meetings. Publish that

Yep, nice work if you can get it.

I wonder if all committee members get an allowance.

52 times 10k plus 1 a hole subtract a whole nation and what is left.......or maybe my math is a little off.

The corrupt Czar of Thailand who does nothing but fill his bank account at the taxpayers expense.

The word concurrently means he must be using Zoom to show his face across all those meetings. Or perhaps more likely a cardboard cut out is more his style.

There you have it.  The reason why this guy is holding on with a death grip to his position.

So If I understand well, The PM and probably other ministers and MP's get a salary because they are in the Government and as soon as they have to start working and create or are part of of a committee they get paid again. Shamefl as it should be a part of their job and is included in their salary... No wonder so many committee for all kind of things are doing useless work and delaying only to fill their pockets.. And than the Pm dares to say that he doesn't get a high salary... No indeed , but many other extras he doesn't mention.

Money cant buy everything its true

But what it cant buy

He cant use

He wants money

Thats what he wants

Money

Thats what he wants.

He's filling up his pension pot prior to stepping down to allow a new snout in the trough.  No wonder he banned Orwell's 'Animal Farm'.

'All animals are equal: some are more equal than others.'

Clever fella......

He's the man.

Planning for a soon to be retirement.

There's a reason Thailand is the hub of committees ????

8 years in power, had plenty of time to create a VERY substantial pension pot along with his cronies.

Remember they also get extra for being the Minister in charge of certain ministries, so Prayut is the PM but also the Defense minister as well.  One paycheck is all these folks need. Yet it is the same in the US for being on certain boards as a member.....

And which minister in Thailand does not take what they can get?

If he don't attend, he wouldn't get pay. Payment is based on attendance.

It's normal, it happens all over, even in the least corrupt country of the World where it's called "bones", which the politicians can gnaw, i.e. make extra income, sometimes even with an very low meeting attendance like 30 percent, because they are busy in another chair...:whistling:

Yep the same 10k

Having been on government (as an advisor) and private committees 500 to 1,000 Baht has been acceptable as an attendance amount, but only when I actually attended.

As a person who loves his country and has sacrificed his time to help raise the quality of government to where it is today, the PM should decline the fees and tell the committes his salary as PM and the terrific results attained by the People (tm) is sufficient reward in this life.
