I have 2 British Passports; one which has my recently expired Non-Quota Immigrant Visa in will expire in about a year and the other I obtained in November 2020 applying at VFS in Bangkok.

I plan to travel overseas from Bangkok frequently in the next few months. In this period it is not possible to renew my British Passport which I use for my Non-Quota Immigrant Visa for obvious reasons including long waiting time. Also, it may be difficult to obtain a supporting letter to renew this passport.

Has anyone got any positive experience of transferring 'Thai' visa from 1st to 2nd passport in Bangkok Immigration? If so did Immigration accept the standard letter on British Embassy Bangkok letterhead with a dated date, i.e. in my case the Serial number on the letter is dated November 2020?

Since you mention a non quota immigrant visa you apparently have permanent residency here. I suggest you check with the PR section at Chaeng Wattana about it.

Since you are on PR they may transfer your visa and etc to the new one without a embassy letter.l

Not relevant to you I think, but for general interest, two years ago Hua Hin immigration transferred my O/A visa from old to new passport quickly, with no letter required, and free of charge.

Thanks ubonjoe. Successfully done without me even asking. The IO asked me if I wanted to transfer to my new 2nd passport to which I said yes. Embassy letter not required.

All done in 30 minutes and as always exemplary and professional service from the ladies at Counters E1 and E2.

Are you really sure that they actually transferred a real genuine McCoy visa of the non-OA variety (as illustrated below) in your case? I have always been under the impression that it was extension of stay stamps that were transferred from old to new passports by immigration offices, not visas!
