mcd
At 2 am on 22nd June the Banglamung Police were informed by a Mr. Sudjai Phrombut, aged 28, that a drunken woman had fallen into the house well and drowned. On arrival the team of police officers and Sawang Boriboon found a middle aged woman’s body upside down in the well. It took the team a while to bring her body up since it was about 5 meters deep. From questioning Mr. Sudjai it was found that he and the woman are cohabiting as husband and wife at this house in Banglamung. He stated that earlier in the evening when he returned from work she told him that she was going out and would be home late. Before she left she was already in a drunken condition and he figured that she was going out to drink some more. He went to sleep and woke up at around 1 am. He found it suspicious that she still hadn’t returned and he doesn’t know why, but he suspected that something might have happened to her. Then he thought about the well outside so picked up a flashlight and shone down to see her body inside so quickly informed the police. From what happened the police think that the woman must have been extremely drunk and lost balance to fell into the well because that area was pretty dark and without seeing it; she might have forgotten that it was there. Relatives of the deceased do not think any foul play was involved as they know she enjoyed drinking and always went in and out of the house at night so it was possible that this happened due to drunkenness. However, her body was sent for autopsy to find the cause of death and relatives will pick up her body later. http://www.pattayapeople.com/default.asp?F...;IdArticle=6311

mcd
pattaya daily news' version.. DRUNK GRANDMA FALLS INTO WELL AND DROWNS IN PATTAYA A twenty-eight year old man became concerned when his fifty-three year old wife didn’t return home from a night of drinking with friends. When she hadn’t shown up by 1 AM, he and his cousins searched for his wife and eventually found her body at the bottom of a well, near the house. On 22 June 2007, at 2 AM, Pol.Maj.Winai Ho-Rean, Investigator, Banglamung, Pattaya, was notified that there was a dead body in a water well near a house with no house number on Soi Sukhumvit 41, Nongyai 4, Moo 6, Naklua, Chonburi. He rushed to the scene with Sawang Boriboon Rescue. At the house, there were a large number of distraught friends and relatives. The nearby well was constructed from a round concrete block, one meter in diameter and thirty meters deep. Mrs. Larn (53), a second hand goods merchant, from Nakornsawan Province, was at the bottom of the well. She was lying face down in the water. Only her feet were visible slightly above the water. Officials threw down a rope to hook her legs and pulled up the body. She was, apparently, dead for about five hours. There was no evidence of foul play. Police sent her body for examination. Mrs. Larn’s husband, Mr. Sudjai Prombutr (28), residing at 320, Moo 1, Klongplu, Nongyai, Chonburi, tearfully recounted that at about 6 PM, after he came back from working as a shoe shiner along Pattaya beach, Mrs. Larn cooked him a meal, and then asked his permission to go drinking with her friends. Mr. Sudjai said she could, as this was her usual habit. Mr. Sudjai was not concerned and went to bed; but, when he awoke at 1 AM and his wife had not returned, he asked six of his cousins, to help him find Mrs. Larn, but they couldn’t locate her. Eventually, they used a flashlight to look into the well near the house. They were shocked to see Mrs. Larn’s feet above the water at the bottom of the well. Mr. Sudjai suspected that his wife was drunk and tried to get some water from the well. However, the top of the water was not high enough, causing Mrs. Larn to fall into the well and drown. Humphrey Bear
Ding dong bell, Pussies in the well ..... Do they mean the concrete cistern the collects the water from the mains? Usually has a cover on it. A well nowadays is seldom wide enough to fall down - narrow lined boring with pump.
Humphrey Bear
OK, now I've seen the photos. That well should surely have had a cover on it. A smaal upstand, just right to trip on, then a wide mouth to the well. Who is responsible for the well? Should be charged with negligent homicide.
