A sanctioned Russian businessman and close Putin ally linked to the notorious Wagner Group has reportedly been personally touring Russian prisons and recruiting inmates to join the fight in Ukraine.

That’s according to new reporting out Saturday by the independent outlet Mediazona, which interviewed two inmates held in different facilities in different regions of Russia. Numerous reports have emerged in recent weeks about Wagner’s alleged new recruiting drive among inmates, with the private Russian military force ostensibly trying to shore up Russian forces that have been depleted by heavy losses in the nearly six month war.

So who's cooking for vlad while hsi chef is off recruiting?

And how many food tasters has he used so far?

Either would be an awesome reality show. Each week's "loser" either gets shot, or dies from Novichok.

Which is why Russia is scavenging for recruits in prisons and is now allowing Russian men over the age of 40 to enlist.

And you believe this because you read about it?

Still waiting for you to substantiate your claim?

As for Crimea, do satellite images also form part of the conspiracy theory or video of the explosions?

One person has been killed after blasts rocked a military base in Crimea, the head of the Russia-appointed regional administration there said.

Sergei Aksyonov wrote on social media that the blasts had taken place at the Saky military base near Novofedorivka on the peninsula's western coast.

Do you know anything at all about the Wagner group? Anyone who does wouldn't find this news at all unlikely.

So it's just the guardian and some random YouTube channel? You sure about that?

New satellite images reveal massive damage at Russian air base in Crimea

New satellite images reveal the extensive damage to a Russian base in Crimea after it was targeted in a mysterious attack, appearing to be considerably worse than the Kremlin has publicly admitted.

The photographs, captured by US-based satellite imaging company Planet and shared online by open-source investigators, appeared to show at least three large craters near jet ammunition storage buildings and severe damage from a fire which ripped through Russia’s Saki Airbase on Tuesday.

Shrouded in secrecy for years, Russia’s Wagner Group opens up

On paper, the Wagner Group, a Russian network providing fighters for hire, does not exist.

It does not file tax returns, its alleged backers deny any connection to it and officially, private military companies (PMCs) are illegal in Russia.

“Mercenaries have no official status, so they don’t have the same rights or guarantees as an official representative of the armed forces, and payment is only after completing a mission,” Marat Gabidullin told Al Jazeera. “You finish the mission, get paid and you can go on vacation.”
