Saprang lashes out at Vuthipong

Chairman says Army's request 'not an issue'

TOT chairman Saprang Kalayanamitr yesterday defended the sacking of Vuthipong Priebjrivat as acting president, saying that it was not out of hurt feelings over the controversial purchase of electronic equipment for the Army and that he must have a hidden agenda in exposing the deal.

Vuthipong was ousted because of his show of disrespect towards Information and Communication Technology Minister Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom during a visit to TOT staff in the South, General Saprang said.

Secret deals at the TOT?

At a time the country is debating a draconian internal security act, troubling events at the TOT have raised the level of suspicion.

The military-appointed chairman of the nation's leading telecommunications company has fired the acting president he himself appointed, amid highly disturbing allegations.

Ex TOT Saprang should be praised.

If the army wants money it should ask the Ministry of Defence. Secret fund from any other government department is misuse of public money.

Everyone know that Suttichai is a useless know nothing minster

TOT goes ahead with army project

By Komsan Tortermvasana

The TOT board yesterday admitted it had accepted the army's request to provide support for the installation of electronic surveillance equipment, supposedly for use in the restive South.

The board, chaired by assistant army chief Saprang Kalayanamitr, clarified its controversial resolution on June 21, which has put the TOT under the spotlight over its apparent attempts to give special assistance to the army.

Finally, an explanation why internet in Thailand is going from bad to worse... TOT too busy doing uninformed side-projects for army. And that on top of a general level of incompetence... amazing that the internet is working at all, really.

He defended the board's decision, saying Mr Vuthiphong was fired because he defied Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Minister Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom at a recent seminar attended by TOT employees in the South.

He said the ICT minister was unhappy with Mr Vuthiphong and the board had ordered an inquiry.

He said Thai society had different social aspects from western society and knowledgeable people should avoid showing disrespect to their seniors or commanders. even if said person is a total dork !
