One might think they would know that a tourist visa which is a pain in the butt to get online is valid for 60 days and not 30...why would anyone go through all the hassles of downloading doc after doc and paying a non refundable $40 and then waiting 10 days or more to get a response if all they get is the same 30 days (not 15 days) that a visa exempt person get for doing/paying nothing? It always amazes me that that these govt and big corps can't spend a few baht to hire a native or at least fluent English speaker to PROOF READ their announcements. It would take all of about 5 minutes for someone to point out the obvious errors. How much could that cost? I suspect the problem is that it would cause some bigwig to lose face when shown he has no clue about proper english. 17 7
Popular Post Baron Samedi
Dear TAT, Delete visa extensions all together and let people renew their tourist visa online indefinitely and without having to leave the country if they feel like it. Stop pretending that Thailand has something special worth protecting from the outside world when in fact the truth goes like this: "Without foreigners - both workers and tourists - the kingdom's economy has no future whatsoever." Thank you. ???????? 26

I believe that's actually what he means. Visa Exempt goes from 30 days to 45 days. Visa on arrival would go from 15 days to 30 days. I don't know if he said the wrong visa type or if the article writer used the wrong word or the translation was bad. 6

The comment is not so far out of tune . Tourism is way down in numbers and with the western economies struggling and Chinese tourists not arriving for any time soon the outlook for people depending on tourism is bleak . 7 2
Popular Post rohitsuk
It was refused at the June meeting and my bet is it will be refused again. There is a nasty mean sprinted streak that runs from top to bottom of Thailand's immigration, bureaucracy gone berserk, system. When Big Joke was Big Chief and threatened to reform it all, he was heaved out to an inactive post from which he is slowly recovering.

Really no other reason for it. Most people on yearly extensions aren't changing addresses every couple of months or doing anything else that would concern Immigration so the only real reason they could have for the 90 day reports is to see if you show up (or mail it in or do it online). Lol - though I suspect if you don't do the report, they won't actually go check to see if you are dead or not. (When Dad died I did go to Immigration to inform them so they wouldn't list him as being on overstay or something. If I recall they did cancel his visa/extension.) 1

It's always good to put a country's eggs into just one basket, like relying on exports of durian and other agricultural products to China. What could possibly go wrong? Just send all the Thai city slickers, office workers, hotel staff, tourist guides, and all people relying on tourism to the durian plantations upcountry. They will be pleased!
