Duncan 100
Hi Guys, Sorry this has probably been asked many times. I'm coming to Thailand soon and will be staying for 48 days, could someone please advise the easiest visa I can get to cover this stay. I live in the UK but I'm a distance from any Thai consulate and worried that the online visa will take too long. I'm leaving on the 19th Sept Thanks Duncan ... The airline may wish to see onward ticket within 30 days You ticket out in 48 days should be acceptable. Especially when you explain intention to obtain extension. There are many threads regarding your options for onward flight. Won't outline in this post. When you land in Thailand you just present at passport control. The immigration officer will see that you have no visa and stamp you in for 30 days. Edit: in earlier posts I mentioned 45 days. That starts Oct 1. My mistake you arrive Sept so 30 days + 30 day extension Edited September 8, 2022 by DrJack54

No visa required Since he is coming September 19th, the permission to stay from the visa exempt entry will still only be 30 days. Your advice remains valid. Strangely many from Europe do not. OP, is flying from UK. I stated this in my post...... "There are many threads regarding your options for onward flight. Won't outline in this post." He can use "onwardflight.com" is just one option. Edited September 8, 2022 by DrJack54
billp
Apply now for the eVisa. You still have 10 days. I got mine in 8 hours last February. If you don’t receive the visa in time, visa exempt entry is your fallback as others have said, but it’s got problems. The main one is the requirement for proof of onward travel. Strictly speaking, you must have a flight out within 30 days and you could be denied boarding if you don’t. MAYBE the check-in agent will accept your plans to apply for an extension in Thailand, but your fate is in his or her hands. Check-in agents cannot be expected to know the visa regulations of every country, so they follow the rules that come up on their screens.
