Muang Uttaradit police and rescue services were called after a fatality on railway tracks in the area.

By Wat Doi Tha Sao in Muang district they found a Honda Accord that had been dragged 300 meters from a crossing, reported Siam Rath.

Dead inside was 56 year old Nopparat a former local councillor.

He had also competed in a recent competition for Sepak Takraw for older people in Phayao.

The train carrying cement was headed for Lamphun in the far north when the collision occurred.

It seems that the only incompetents are those responsible for improving road safety at road junctions.

Tough way to go...RIP. I have seen so many people duck the barrier and play chicken with the train here, it's hard to feel sorry for drivers if they ignore basic safety tenets.

Tee-boned by a train... means only one thing.
