Popular Post phetphet
Now that the tragedy the other day in Nong Bua Lampu is in the public consciousness, I hope it is not going to be the start of a spate of similar events. Too many fragile egos here with access to guns. Too many, "She hurt my feelings. I'll show her." stories in the news. The gov't really need to get more guns off the streets. It seems as if almost everyone has one, or can easily get one. 1
Popular Post thenewgoo
A good starting point would be for the government to have a 'hand in your guns' amnesty. No questions asked. A similar campaign in Australia some years back saw a staggering amount of guns surrendered. 2 1

A good idea .... but with the levels of corruption here, I think half the weapons handed in would go 'missing ' and just end up being sold back to criminals.... 2 2

brucegoniners
Here we go. Once something like this happens all the crazies come out, armed to the teeth. This is a bad time for Thailand.
richard_smith237
Unfortunately the “contagion effect” is a real thing and has spawned copycats of major and horrific murders world wide... .... Its one of the reason there is a drive by some to limit the reporting of such events so that nut-cases are not given ideas.... It's a sad testament to the society we live in, but we need to recognise there are quite a lot of unhealthy minds out there.

Ultimately criminals will be criminals. At least some deadly weapons may be out of reach of those that probably shouldn't have access to them.
