Popular Post webfact
by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - The improvement in the pandemic situation is enabling tourism activities and businesses to regain traction. More than 5.6 million foreign tourists have entered Thailand so far this year and generated about 200 billion baht in economic value. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is now making plans to support local tourism development efforts aimed at nurturing sustainable tourism. TAT Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business Apichai Chatchalermkit said tourism has been continually recovering. Aware of this development, Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. is implementing a sustainable tourism tactic under the concept “The Network of Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Society”. Thailand Privilege Card is the firm offering “Thailand Elite” benefits to select foreigners, which include 5 to 20 years visa options. Mr. Apichai explained Thailand Privilege Card will help sustainably develop tourism activities that place importance on the environment, in keeping with the government’s BCG model. Profits from the sale of Thailand Privilege membership will be used in support of tourism and social development. Examples include the “Kla Di” program by Hug Muang Nan Foundation and the mobile medical units sponsorship by Operation Smile Thailand. The former program promotes environmental conscience among young people and the latter provides reconstructive facial surgeries for underprivileged persons. Mr. Apichai said the World Tourism Organization has produced a ranking of tourism recovery among the nations of the world. Thailand currently stands at number 1 in terms of room bookings and number 2 in the aspect of tourist confidence. According to the deputy governor, there are about 20,000 Thailand Privilege Card holders at present. The member body generally consists of foreigners with high spending power and foreign investors. Popular Post Jerno
They just don't get it. It's not the 100,000 Big Spenders, or the elitist Visa guys, but it's the millions and millions who spend a small or moderate amount....that's where the big time tourist revenues come from. 4

They do not want big money in Thailand, the elite only want the rich so they get richer. TOT IMO is just a place to dole out what the elite want. Nothing more. Burp ???????? When the country re-opened in July 2020 after lockdowns, these VIPs were told they are holders of 'tourist visa' and hence denied entry even with the rigorous 'Certificate of entry' program. Elite were made to wait until the 3rd or 4th tranche of foreigners were announced in October 2020. Elite card holders would have felt really special after parting with 1-2MB
realfunster
"Standing on the shoulders of giants" Nothing better for a Thai government agency to grab some budget than throwing around some global buzzwords. None of which resonate with their main tourist target group, the Chinese, but it does impress the locals, who are convinced this lot must be so much more educated than them. Of course, the relevance of these concepts in normal day-to-day existence in Thailand is extremely limited and it creates a strategic mess for the tourism industry, but it presents well enough to get the budget and the guys get their spend. Build up solid foundations on education, social mobility, patriotism (in a meaningful way...) and anti-corruption, and then you might see some progress. Partenavia
These imbeciles have no concept of what is happening in the outside world, it's sad that the general level of education seems to prohibit the understanding of the way the world operates. They churn out on what seems to be a daily basis, statistics which are meaningless. 1

PE visa holders could apply to get ministerial approval to enter the country. It was tedious and took about 6 weeks but we could get in.

Maybe a few at best. The rest of the world just passes them by. Who makes up this stuff. Edited October 12, 2022 by Gknrd
