Judge drops 1 of 5 charges against Trump-Russia dossier source, in blow to special counsel Durham

Alexandria, Virginia CNN  — 

A federal judge on Friday threw out one of five charges against Igor Danchenko, the primary source of the Trump-Russia dossier, in a major setback for special counsel John Durham’s investigation.

The judge dropped one of the five charges against Danchenko, specifically pertaining to the allegation that he lied to the FBI about speaking with a Democratic operative about the anti-Trump dossier.

District Judge Anthony Trenga said in court Friday that Danchenko’s answer to the FBI interviewer “was literally true” and that Durham’s case on that specific charge was too weak to send to the jury. This is a major victory for Danchenko, who has maintained that he told the truth to the FBI agents who were trying to corroborate the dossier in 2017.

"It strengthens the prosecution case not to have that count because I felt that it was really something that was begging for a hung jury or an acquittal. So they'll go forward on those stronger, more direct counts," the Fox News contributor said.

Two bad actors (intel and denchecko)out to get the anti establishment Trump!
Actually he (denchencko)tried to take it back but the dishonest fbi and doj would have nothing to do with it.

Even if he'd be convicted for the other charges, it would be very far from the initial ambition of the investigation. 3 years and 3 millions wasted for small fry.

Quite right. The original premise of this investigation was to expose the FBI conspiracy to get Trump. Instead, Durham is now portraying the FBI as dupes. That approach failed in the case of Sussman who was acquitted.
