Daily News Thai Caption: Who's scared!

Daily News reported on violence between rampaging Cambodian young people with knives that left bloodstains at the Samrong market in Samut Prakan.

Their headline suggested they were not afraid of the Thai police one bit.

One person was injured as locals said this was a frequent occurrence. They were understandably reluctant to intervene.

An online post said it was not Thai technical college students but foreigners.

A video clip showed many armed with knives as rival groups battled.

A man in a yellow shirt was seen covered in blood on his leg before a member of the public on a motorcycle took him to hospital. It happened in the market parking lot on Monday afternoon.

Pol Col Chotiwat Leuangwilai, deputy commander of the Samut Prakan provincial police, admitted it was a frequent occurrence and promised action with the help of immigration.

Why would they be scared of the police? These guys do not inspire awe, nor are they particularly good law enforcement officers.

And when they make a threat of enforcing the law, it does tend to invite scepticism.
