FORMER national police chief Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth Temeiwes, who is the leader of Seri Ruam Thai Party, said Mr. Srisuwan Chanya, secretary-general of the Association for the Protection of the Thai Constitution, being punched and kicked Tuesday (Oct. 18) should be considered an attempt to teach him a lesson as it would come under the category of violence if a stick, knife or pistol had been used, Sanook.com said.

Amazon becomes a key investor in Thailand as cloud computer firm AWS sets up shop in Bangkok

An upbeat Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy on Tuesday welcomed the official announcement that Seattle-based AWS was setting up its regional operations in Thailand

 

There is no doubt that the US firm’s investment in Thailand through a new subsidiary firm is good news which will see Thailand become a hub for cloud-based internet services throughout Southeast Asia while also improving the digital infrastructure for local internet firms and digital startups.

Despite mounting criticisms and concerns for his safety, Thai heartthrob Phakin “Tono” Khamwilaisak will on Saturday plunge into the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom for a 15-km charity swim that will take him to the Laotian side of the river and back to the northeastern province.

Hospital reports spike in RSV cases among children

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Children Hospital has reported a rise in the number of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) patients year by year. The hospital is asking parents of very young children to be cautious and take precautionary measures against respiratory diseases.

THAI says load factor swings to 80% in early Oct, sees passenger traffic recovering, brings in 3 new Boeing 777 into service

Ailing national carrier – Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) came out to reveal that its load factor has been on an upswing and for the month of October the passenger load factor has seen a surge back to around 80%.

Chiang Mai struck by 4.1 magnitude earthquake Thursday morning

Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Mai was struck by an earthquake of 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale, at 4.36am this morning (Thursday). It was the strongest quake in the province in recorded history.  Tremors were felt in the two neighbouring provinces of Lamphun and Phayao, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
