There was some interest in the Koh Samui forum for a metal detector and I promised to design a pcb for those who would like to build their own. All the information is in one .pdf file including the pcb print and information on etching your own circuit board. I only got around to it this week due to heavy work schedule but have tested it on the bench and can detect a 1 baht coin at about 12 cm above the coil. The circuit was taken off the Internet with some slight mods done by me and the PCB design done by myself. Estimated price for parts is around 500 baht.

I don't have the handle, shaft and coil housing done yet but plan on using a small diameter pvc tube for the shaft and perhaps a 45 degree pvc elbow and a short length for the handle. The PCB is a little larger then I prefer (2.6" x 2.75") but takes a lot of time to layout when the components are too close together.

PDF file is here (539kB) > http://www.fnrf.science.cmu.ac.th/ftp/metaldetector.pdf
