(NEXSTAR) — Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, patients have reported dozens of different symptoms, ranging from cold and flu-like symptoms to more unique ones, including “COVID tongue.”

But like all viruses, the primary symptoms associated with COVID have changed and can vary based on your vaccination status, according to a new list released last week.

The ZOE Health Study — a joint effort by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, King’s College London, Stanford University School of Medicine and the health app ZOE — shared an updated list of the top COVID symptoms currently being reported by its participants [see graphic above].

Other symptoms frequently reported seem to have become less prevalent as well, like chills or shivers; COVID toes or fingers; and stomach aches.

It seems the symptoms are similar across all 3 categories, what's the point of this article?

The full article is talking about what the CURRENT most commonly reported symptoms are overall vs. what they were in the past.

"Other symptoms frequently reported seem to have become less prevalent as well, like chills or shivers; COVID toes or fingers; and stomach aches."

Also:

"A sore throat has been more commonly reported and the loss of smell less commonly by patients with the omicron variant than those with the delta variant."

The graphic just breaks down the CURRENT most commonly reported symptoms by the three varying vaccination statuses.

The full article goes into more of the differences between the current status and past symptoms. But we are limited in the amount of content we can directly quote here from outside news sources.

The info in the OP here is about the most common COVID symptoms, meaning those symptoms are going to be in the routine COVID cases.

Regarding the comment above, it seems trying to forget or ignore the fact that COVID since the outset is estimated to have killed between 15 million and 18 million people worldwide, three times the official COVID death count of more than 6.5 million.

Global COVID-19 Death Toll May Be Triple the Reported Deaths

Those numbers are bad enough as they are. Had nothing been done in terms of precautions, restrictions, vaccines, etc., who knows how much higher the COVID death and misery toll would have been.

As it is, right now, officially, COVID is still killing more than 3,000 people per week around the world, and they're not dying from sniffles or sore throats.

From the WHO's COVID dashboard of weekly COVID deaths:
