Don't recall the EU getting involved when the UK downgraded Cannabis during the first Blair Goverment, plus Cannabis doesn't seem to be a problem in Holland, or Portugal. Beside violating several EU laws, directives and contracts, it violates the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs Act from over 60 years ago. That Act did not seem to have been a problem for Canada*.. which although not a member of the EU, is/was a signatory of that Act.
