DSI Raids Warehouse Stockpiling Unsafe Electrical Goods Worth Over 17 Million Baht
Picture courtesy of DSI The Department of Special Investigation (DSI), in cooperation with the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), raided a warehouse in Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani, uncovering a large stockpile of electrical appliances that failed to meet safety standards. Authorities seized over 100,000 items, with an estimated market value of 17 million baht. On 13 March, acting on a search warrant issued by the Thanyaburi Provincial Court, DSI officers led by Pol. Lt. Col. Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the DSI, and Pol. Lt. Col. Anurak Rojanaranankit, Deputy Director-General, inspected the site. They were joined by Pol. Lt. Col. Supawan Phonak, Deputy Director of the Consumer Protection Division, along with officials from the Thai Industrial Standards Institute. During the raid, authorities discovered a range of electrical products, including power strips, electric cookers, hairdryers, nail dryers, and other appliances. These products were found to be in violation of the Industrial Product Standards Act of 1968 and the Customs Act of 2017. The seized goods have been handed over to the DSI’s Consumer Protection Division for further investigation. Officers also confiscated computers and relevant documents as evidence to support legal proceedings under the Special Case Investigation Act of 2004. This operation forms part of the Thai government’s ongoing efforts to combat the illegal import and sale of substandard products, which pose potential safety risks to consumers. The initiative aligns with the key policies of Pol. Lt. Col. Yutthana Praedam, who has emphasised the importance of strong inter-agency collaboration in enforcing regulations and maintaining public trust in consumer protection. The DSI continues to encourage the public to report any suspicious or illegal activities involving substandard products to help prevent the circulation of unsafe goods in the Thai market. -- 2025-03-15 -

Taxis ! will things ever change ? - Meter car or Taxi Apps or others - Still a scam ?
GTFO with this "it's cheaper in the UK" nonsense. We are not in the UK. There is a reason people choose to live in Thailand, one of which is to avoid paying UK prices. This kind of rip-off BS can get out of hand quickly once more cabbies clue in. This time it was 100 baht extra. Next time it will be 120 & spiral out of control. -
