My BIL was arrested in the 90's after niece and nephew reported him for abusing them both a few years before, the girl since she was 8, the boy developed mental problems. Police never charged him as the evidence was not good enough, despite 2 statements. He ran off abroad eventually, as it happens here most of the time. The boy subsequently killed himself as did my sister, his mum a few years after all this, the niece says the abuse and betrayal were the main cause. 

He still maintains he did nothing, even when these monsters do admit it they claim they never hurt the kids but loved them, they have no idea how much pain thier sick perversions cause.

I don't believe he was convicted of abusing children, simply having the pictures. Although the word 'producing' was mentioned on a previous arrest.... 

There have been some very ugly recent convictions on child abuse in the UK *people beating, starving etc infants, their own children) and they were given long custodial sentences.

The UK is an absolute joke for laws and no order. He shouldn't see the light of day again. Prison is claimed to rehabilitate. How do you cure a person's sexual urges? Although he just downloaded photos from the internet , had he made the photos himself, he would have received a longer jail sentence
