Former President Donald Trump files to run in 2024

Me too - his actual record up until the 2020 election was pretty good, despite all of the efforts of the Democrats to turn him over.

Trump's real problem came at the election and after that it just got worse. If he could have just conceded - even if he did believe there were problems with the vote - then shut up, let go  and handed over, then this rerun now would have had far more chance of success. I suppose that's what they call it politics.... and Trump is certainly not a politician.

It will be interesting to see how hard the Democrats try to attack him now he has announced. I reckon they'll actually back off for a while.

Why do you think the Dems will back off from attacking Trump? Do they fear him? You might have a point. Maybe it would make strategic sense for the Dems to throw faint praise towards Trump and vote him up in polls to give him a boost in the primaries. Trump is the person the Dems fear the least. Why? Because angry old white men without college degrees are a diminishing demographic and therefore a spent political force.

More generalities and pointlessness.   Details please.

Agree, pointless. Anyway, if there has been any sell-out it's more likely been done by Biden.

Who did he sell out to? Putin?

Yes, strategic. But after all the <deleted> they been throwing at Trump for the last 6 years I don't think anyone is going to believe any so-called :praise" from the Democrats. As for "angry old white men", well you've got your own version and he won't win again either.

My "own version" is based entirely on research and exit polling results. The right have not won the popular vote for some time and their time is running out.

No, to the Chinese. That's why he's sharply restricted their access to high tech stuff because he and Hunter are secretly in their pay. They're not a patch on their heroic predecessor who relaxed restrictions on trade with China in return for a Chinese promise to buy lots of stuff from the USA. A promise that the Chinese never kept. What a shocker that was!

He did force the Chinese to pay a tariff for US imports. </sarc>

The GOP divisions also portray fierce frustrations within the party that Trump’s presidential announcement — which he delivered Tuesday night in a prime-time speech at Mar-a-Lago — came before the results of some midterm races are final. Some Republicans are concerned it will hurt the GOP’s chances in a Senate runoff election in Georgia, where voters will decide Dec. 6 whether Sen. Raphael Warnock (D) or Republican Herschel Walker will be in the upper chamber next year.

The Chinese never paid anything.  US consumers did.

Should, but the tampering with the votes keeps happening.  In order for Trump to win, the voting has to be fair.

Naturally you have the links with evidence to prove what you claim.

Biden does not reply on the white male non college educated demographic. Trump demonstrably does so.

No. Your own version is Biden.

Possibly, here is the reason why and also why the Republicans want to repeal Biden's College initiatives.

Education is tied to conspiracy theory belief.

Also, TBH, supporters of Trump felt aliened by previous Govt's. and Trump offered to change that. Though he never kept his word.

"Among other things, studies find that people are more likely to endorse conspiracy theories if they feel alienated, powerless and disadvantaged, and if they are distrustful of others. Additionally, a variety of demographic factors have been found to predict conspiratorial thinking, including low levels of education".

Is Education Tied To Conspiracy Theory Belief? : 13.7: Cosmos And Culture : NPR

"People with high education are less likely than people with low education to believe in conspiracy theories."

It's fine to not like Trump, but let's quit the BS shall we, especially when the current guy is a senile creep who likes sniffing little girls and whose son is a scumbag of the worst type.

What's BS is that cult followers like yourself would support the traitor trump in becoming "president" again.

Yeah, great record. Especially that Big Beautiful Wall paid for by the Mexicans!

Funny. Must have missed those meetings President Biden had with despots like Putin and Kim. Only saw the love fests his predecessor had with them.

The Republican Party faces a huge dilemma.  Trump and his MAGA brigade will turn the primaries into a hate fest, dishing out dirt on anyone who dares to run against him - which some of the right wing "news" sites are already doing to DeSantis.  I doubt if he will eventually get the nomination, but believe that he will take his toys, and hard core followers, and run as an independent, leading to the splitting of the party.  Ironically, conviction for any one of the many crimes he is being investigated for would seem to be the Republican's best chance of ridding themselves of him and his influence.

Having said that, Lyndon B. Johnson's famous quote regarding J. Edgar Hoover comes to mind, and there will no doubt be countless behind the scene efforts by the Republicans to placate him in an attempt to keep him, and his following, inside the tent, without giving him the party nomination.  They have shown they care nothing for his excesses, as long as it gets their party in the White House, and would welcome him on their side as long as it benefitted them.  I just don't think his ego would allow him to go along with that though.  Hopefully this will be the one time where his narcissism and childish need to be in the lime light works to the benefit of the US, and the World.

Disgraceful, newspapers shouldn't be biased.

Worse, this newspaper belongs to Rupert Murdoch.  If you can't trust a Rupert Murdoch news outlet to be unbiased, who can you trust?

For the Fox News fans, that's sarcasm.  I'm not sure you can recognize it.  Rupert Murdoch takes the ratings obsessed infotainment called cable news and manipulates it to play king-maker in politics.  He still does, but you only recognize it when you disagree with his choice of king.

The fact that he has a lot of energy compared to the senile guy in the cseat should be enough to clinch it for him.

Even before he cheated to win the election, he couldn't even remember trumps fist name, calling him George.

What a mess the US is in.

Energy is great for entertainers.  Knowledge, experience and rationality are more important for Presidents.

Trump signing some more sweet deals with his Saudi friends.

Trump Family Signs Deal With Saudi Real Estate Developer

The Trump family has struck a deal with a Saudi-based real estate company to license its name to a housing and golf complex that will be built in Oman, renewing a swirl of questions about former President Donald Trump’s mixing of politics and business.

Trump had close ties with the Saudi government during his tenure in the White House, authorizing billions of dollars in weapons sales and defending the government there after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, secured a $2 billion investment from a fund led by the Saudi crown prince six months after leaving the White House.
