Hello,

What is the VAT rate in Thailand for hotels ?

I thought it was 7 % but when booking an hotel in Phuket, I was asked 3244,82 ฿ for VAT with a price of 17352,00 ฿ which would give 18,70 %

Thanks

Did you pay the hotel directly or an online agent.

Some agents quote an initial "before tax" price to boost their listing above others.

When it comes to pay, "taxes"(sic) are added. The amount has little to do with tax...

Normally easy to see total price tax included on any booking. Usually on price details. I always look as most places don’t advertise the full, price.:  booking.com usually do, and if there’s any extras, they state that.

VAT is 7% full stop.

Must be some hidden charges!

Service charge with VAT applied to that too?
