Daily News Thai Caption: There's a number right here

Songsak or Lung Sak in Ban Jan sub-district of Muang Udon Thani, NE Thailand, put his fish catching baskets out as normal on Monday night in a pond in the fields.

When he approached the baskets in the morning he felt sure he had landed a big fish.

There was much splashing as he neared his "laaps".

But it was not a fish, it was a large python, unusual in those parts according to Lung Sak who spoke to Daily News.

The python was soon in custody and bagged in a fertilizer sack for release elsewhere.

Also rescue was a turtle that survived the night with the snake and was let go in the pond.

Now all the locals have gathered to divine the lottery numbers according to their superstitions.
