Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha remained tight-lipped when informed of the decision by the Constitutional Court on Wednesday after his return from Chiang Rai to Bangkok.

Wednesday’s court decision sets the stage for a General Election in 2023 which will be fought with a fairer, easier-to-understand and more transparent voting and counting process.

The vote may turn out to be bad news for Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha who is relying on the support of the new Seri Ruam Thai Party although all may remain to be played for given his popularity among key sections of the public and reports of MPs switching to the new party from the ruling Palang Pracharat Party. Overall, however, it will diminish his chances of reelection next year as prime minister and make it a more challenging proposition.

The leader of the small New Palang Dharma Party, Mr Rawee Maschamadol, on Wednesday, accepted the 7 to 2 vote decision of Thailand’s Constitutional Court that found a new electoral law, passed by parliament in August and to be used in the next General Election, was constitutional. Mr Rawee said the new law would now give the opposition Pheu Thai Party the whip hand in the General Election in 2023.

The news, which effectively could shape the result of the forthcoming poll, was greeted by a tight-lipped Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha who told reporters that he did not know too much about the issue as he arrived back in Bangkok on Wednesday afternoon after a visit to Chiang Rai.

Whatever. He or his like will be back in their tanks rolling up the roads to government house if they lose. The money is too good to lose

"fairer, easier-to-understand and more transparent voting and counting process."

So why it would benefit pheua thai, but not the other, more democratic and more progressive parties?

Future forward springs to mind, as a grass root organisation.
I would like to hear opinions of those 2 opposition parties, rather than unknown entity party, which probably objected this law and forwarded complain to constitutional court.

Out with the green, in with the red!

Thaksin’s back.

One wonders if this means anything. Is the army any further away from extending their grip on power, and the trillions of baht that come with control of the nation?

Can Thailand dream of a leader who is decent and noble in his or her intentions? Is there ever going to be a day when the land is not ruled by incapable dinosaurs completely lacking in vision, empathy and selflessness? When will the corruption and greed stop?

here is today's article in english explaining in details this new law.

It would benefit all large parties. All those micro-parties, which are part of the present governing coalition, would not qualify even for 1 seat.

It's easy to buy off such parties into government and many were formed just before election for the soul purpose of using this loophole to support Prayuth and also to take easy seats from the dreaded by an establishment future forward.

That change in law came from collusion of pheua thai and palang pracharath, which are the biggest parties and there are rumours they will form a coalition after the general elections. That would work against move forward and the other medium size parties.

Prayuth will not have support from palang pracharath and from those microparties.
