howlee101
They should appoint Anutin...he's adept at inflating numbers. Under his tutelage, I'm sure he will announce 1200 more psychiatrists by June of 2023.

Not to worry, this is totally wrong. I will fix it. For the next 5 years Thailand will need 4 000 psychiatrists per annum.
Srikcir
Might need to double that number of psychiatrists if Prayut remains PM into 2025.

Thats insane (bad choice words) Any people here want to legalise weed smoking ? Going to need more head shrinks when the populations starts puffing

realfunster
Well done to the ever insightful Anutin for stigmatizing mental heath issues with connections to drug use. Way to go in not acknowledging and managing a problem that impacts a significant amount of non-drug users. I think their first priority should be to build up capabilities to take severe sufferers into care. There are a lot of roaming folks with severe mental health issues who are currently “managed”within communities with mixed and sometimes very negative outcomes. That, and getting the mental health issue discussed in a sensible way…

Lucky Bones
Really? With the number of cross-dressers and the way my wife snaps it seems normal. I think shrinks are long forgotten.????????
bkk6060
Western countries just in the past few years have been trying to make it acceptable to seek mental care. Mass shootings and celebrites/atheletes coming about about their issues have helped. Thailand is way behind and with a ¨save face¨ culture it will be difficult to breach the full severity of the problems here. Suicides have been on the rise here over the past several years: According to an investigation video by CNA Insider, there is at least 1 suicide attempt every 10 minutes in Thailand. One major reason for this is the lack of mental health support, especially when it comes to suicidal issues. While there are suicide hotlines in the country, it’s not usually easy to get through and speak to a provider.
