Ambulance bosses beg unions to protect heart attack and stroke patients when paramedics and call handlers go on strike - but pensioners who fall at home could be left stranded by walkouts as MPs warn lives are being put at risk

• Tens of thousands of union members will walk out on December 21 over pay row
• On strike will be paramedics, emergency care assistants and call handlers
• Unions want more than the 4% pay rise they have been given by the Government
• But health bosses pleading with unions not to leave low-priority patients in pain
