Most of us can show enough dominance to these dogs to make them back off. Who do they prey on? Anyone showing weakness: elderly, young, disabled. Look at who got attacked here? Surprised? I've been attacked by soi dogs here in Thailand. I've made everyone of them back off. I've known too many people who have these breeds of dogs. "Oh Killer, Fang, and Shredder are just super friendly and wouldn't hurt a fly." That's all BS. These people have no control over their animals. What's worse? I've got eight dogs. A couple of them are dangerous, which is why we have them. A couple more I don't trust with anyone inside the fence unless my wife or I am around. But they are fenced and they are territorial. We have a series of fences. Just don't be in the wrong fence uninvited. We are VERY upfront with people about that. The outside perimeter is always locked. We are REALLY upfront with people about that. If we let you in - don't wander. There is no - "Ohhhhh Skippy is just a sweetheart and wouldn't hurt a fly." Nope - Skippy and her partner will do damage. Don't wander! Don't have dogs you can not control, especially those breeds. And don't be ignorant. And if your dog attacks anyone who was invited on to your property? Control your dogs and take responsibility if things go south. I lived in a rural area in southern usa..lots of mobile home types had pitbulls chained up in their yards to "protect their assets"..Then one gets lose and attacks and maims some kids....parents sue and win but owner has no assets to even begin to cover the damages.....oh sorry about your face and arm being half ripped off....my bad 1 1

DjSilver Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Any other normal country would have modern laws that demands that the dog be killed. 2

Can't see the point of keeping dogs that are kept outside and not inside the home. They are supposed to be pets that interact with people, sit on the couch with you and sleep on your bed. Perhaps you live in a very dangerous area and feel the need to keep guard dogs. But I suppose your dogs have a more comfortable life than those outside the perimeter of your property. 1

They require a good structure and should never be the alpha. Or just get a normal dog and treat it normally? Also better not to have a dangerous dog, since all the training in the world cannot rule out something like a tumour or other unpredictable issue; making any dog turn, with a dangerous dog causing way, way more damage than a normal dog. 1 hour ago, BritScot said: On a side note you are aware that the American Pitbull was called The Nanny Dog! I'm aware that some dangerous dogs have that moniker. But they're also the dogs that kill and disfigure the most children, so it's more than a little misleading. 2

Speedhump Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 These dogs are no different to other dogs originally bred for fighting instinct. If you want a perfect family pet get a terrier (Pitbull, Staffie, any terrier really) but get one direct from a small breeder who can show you their pedigree and whom you are comfortable breeds for temperament. I speak from my own experience and that of a couple of friends, as well as my son. All good, honestly. 1 1

LukKrueng Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 He looks cute. I'd take him, but think my dogs won't like it. Took about 2 months to get the older dog accept a new puppy a while back...

Actually, you have the same rights as every one else to comment, no more and no less. Granted you have more experience with pit bulls than most, but that doesn't give you bigger bragging rights.

A Welsh Border Collie would be a good dog to own, but you need to be young and fit with a fairly large area for the dog to be in. We had one in my first marriage and when we brought our new born son home the dog sniffed him and realised that there was no competition. She died (was actually put down) at 13 years old .as she had cancer of the jaw, rheumatism and a couple of other problems and was in constant pain despite medications. It was my task to take her to the vet, and a very unhappy one at that. She was an indoor/outdoor dog and loved playing in water and snow. Giving her a bath was a different story. Indoors she would wait to be called upstairs to the bedroom. Once a year she would get her coat sheared and re-appear as half the dog from before. MrJ2U Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Insane. Thailand didn't have this love for dogs 20 years ago. Definitely misplaced.
michaellee Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Kill it once attacking people its time to put to death. 1 1
Derek B Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 What would be the outcome for the dog (in Thailand) if it had bitten someone outwith the family?
Puccini Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Why do we eat chickens and pigs, but not dogs? This dog being two years old, its meant should be tender and tasty. 1
