Three men convicted of aiding a plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan in 2020 were sentenced on Thursday to lengthy sentences that could put them in prison for at least seven years.

The three men, Paul Bellar, 24, Joseph Morrison, 28, and Pete Musico, 45, were convicted in October of aiding a plot to kidnap Governor Whitmer, a Democrat, as part of a right-wing backlash over her role in the state’s Covid restrictions. The men, all Michigan residents, were found guilty of providing material support for terrorist acts and illegal gang membership, as well as felony firearms charges.

The Courts are really not messing around when sentencing these guys.

Generally US law is tough on kidnapping, I guess it goes back to the media frenzy around the Lindbergh case (which was before my time).  I see Whitmer as potential presidential material.

The thing about these MAGA nuts is they blame the LE officials personally for locking them up, not the laws themselves, just like their leaders.  Even after all this 45 stuff with criminal charges is settled (when will that be, 2035?), there could be a long procession of people who received death threats to themselves and theirs due to his instigations filing civil suits against him.
