Tippaporn Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Canadian artist Jesse Winchester with the lovely Yankee Lady. Hauntingly wonderful lyrics that seem to bring back memories I've forgotten. Off of his '70 self-titled debut LP. 1
Tippaporn Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Jesse Winchester with The Brand New Tennessee Waltz, co-written with Robbie Robertson. Also off of his '70 debut album. Tennessee is a beautiful state, especially during the autumn when it's stunningly vibrant with orange, red and yellow foliage everywhere you look. Birth home of President Andrew Jackson, who heroically killed America's second evil central bank. 1

Tippaporn Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Peter, Paul & Mary with 500 Miles off of their '62 self-tilted debut album. This was part of our repertoire in music class during my middle school years. Imagine that . . . music class for 12~14 year olds. Nowadays? Nah, I won't go there. 1
Tippaporn Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 More great Americana music from Tipper's Wholesome Hour . . . The Carter Family performing Wildwood Flower at the Grand Ole Opry. My memories are more than a bit sparse during the late 50's. But one thing I do remember from back then is learning to whistle. 1

Tippaporn Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Texas Songster Mance Lipscomb (1895-1976) plays and sings his rendition of this blues standard, Black Water Blues, written and introduced by Bessie Smith in 1927 and subsequently performed by countless others. While some live recordings of Mance's take on it have surfaced online, this recording—which originated from Mance's first field recording sessions with Chris Strachwitz and Mack McCormick at his home in Navasota, Texas, on August 13, 1960—was published only on Arhoolie's 1961 anthology 'Blues 'n Trouble' (Arhoolie F1006) and appears to be one of Mance's few Arhoolie recordings never reissued in digital format. 1

He was quite an accomplished guitarist and had Jimi Hendrix' respect. Unlike so many rock stars who died young due to drugs California drowned in the Pacific Ocean in '97 at the age of 45 while rescuing his 12-year-old son, Quinn, from a rip current near his mother's home at Molokai, Hawaii. He managed to push Quinn (who survived) toward the shore. Randy went straight to Heaven and was saluted as he walked through the Pearly Gates. 1 1

The closest thing to a beach you'll find, bannork, is the banks of the Mekong River, LOL. You'll have to settle for the hammock on your farm. Great tune, BTW. Hadn't heard that before. 1 1
xtrnuno41 Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Well what about George Benson, amazing guitar player. You see him in interviews, demonstrations, he is playing with ONLY his thumb! Doing solo, accords all together . Tried to find a song from him, which shows, but then he mostly is playing with a pick. A known number is this one, though he has numbers where his guitar is way more speaking. This one then, well had a great hit with "persuader", but put this one in. No further introduction, old number, 2016 1 1
xtrnuno41 Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 IM still on youtube had to place this , you should see this guitar player. Michael Angelo Batio Metal player, with a degree in music! Fastest player in the world. See how he is doing 2 solo's at the same time on the guitar, by just pulling and hammering. Yes it is metal/rock (I also do love), but it is amazing. Even Herman Li from Dragonforce is impressed. Who is Dragonforce?! Quite a speedy band with Mario bro sounds on guitar. Steve Vai also stil going strong, see play him this creation. 1
