Electric Compatibility With Uk Stuff

Featured Replies

hello all - a naive question:

Do uk TVs work in thailand? LCD tvs especially...?

also would, for example, a uk playstation 2 work?

Not for off the air reception they don't. Thailand uses the PAL/B broadcast system as used in Germany.

This is also the wrong forum for this discussion.

Basically yes, unless you want to watch "normal" Thai TV, which won't work (and which I doubt you'd want to watch anyways). Anything else works, as the electrical and video system are the same. The electrical plugs will be different, so you'll need adapters, which are easy to find.

Thai electrical supply is 220/230 volts/50Hz so UK appliances will work. Thai TV transmissions are different they still use VHF and UHF transmissions and sound/ vision separation is different to the UK system. It'll work as a playstation monitor.
