Phi Phi islands welcome over 5,000 visitors a day during New Year holiday

The Phi Phi islands in the southern province of Krabi have seen a massive surge in tourist visitors on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, according to a Phuket Express report. An official from Hat Nappharat Thara-Mu Ko National Park says that in total, the islands welcomed over 5,000 visitors a day on both days.

The authorities in the eastern Thai province of Sa Kaeo have confirmed that 9 Thai nationals remain missing following a devastating blaze at a Cambodian casino. At least 33 Thai people are believed to have died in the fire that broke out at the Grand Diamond City hotel and casino in the border city of Poipet on December 28.
