Yep. Maybe depending on the upcoming election results also.

How come Americans dodged the bullet?

They didn't. Not for me to speak for the original poster but perhaps they are alluding the the end of the 'zero covid' policy hitherto adopted by China. Once covid is widely out in the community we have a fairly good idea (after 3 years now) which groups are more likely to be seriously infected, or worse...especially with a somewhat limited vaccine roll-out in China. I suppose the positive for China is that the current dominant covid strains appear generally less dangerous than earlier strains.

In a nutshell, there's no problem, there will be no problem, but if there is a problem, I'll pass the problem to another department to handle and take the blame.   While likely thinking, "Wow, this job's a breeze."

Isn't that the way the public servants work everywhere? The world "Teflon" comes to my mind. Warm the seat, deny any responsibility, look out for junkets, wait for the generous early pension.

As we have seen in China Lock downs are about the dumbest thing you can do. The virus is there and will remain, so you better drink the poison cup and build up immunity. It has also been shown that lockdowns have disastrous consequences for the mental state of many people.

Society used to believe that parents would work hard so that their children could have a better life than they had. That's pretty much what the American Dream meant, especially for immigrants. That was what we called "progress".

Now governments have decided to sacrifice the physical, emotional and educational development of children in order to "protect" the elderly and very sick.

It's obscene.

So your suggesting that we just let the elderly die en-mass? is that your point.

TR, have a look on Youtube particularly a channel called China Insights.  There you will find the evidence you are looking for.

You Tube is evidence? Wow! I learn something new everyday.

Again it's the old, fat and unhealthy dying in China.

You might well be correct, but the news that I read  says at least 50% of the Chinese people currently have Covid in one form or another.

I don't believe that 50% of the population in China are old, fat and unhealthy.

Yes, that's exactly what is currently discussed in my home country's mass media: "The times that we wished our kids to be better off are over, and we need to get used to being worse off..."

And 50% of them will not die.

Covid kills old, fat and unhealthy people.

Enough of us here have had it to know this.

Anutin has a very short memory,  has he forgot where Covid originated from and destroyed the entertainment industry of Thailand for 2 years, and the Government was crying wolf and depended on other Countries in the world for Aid and vaccine, has he done his home work, and according to media, 2.5 million a day are testing positive in China, and yet he is prepared to let them in to Thailand unchecked, it just shows what this Goverment think of its own citizens,... money before health...

The community where I am in here in China have had an infection rate over the last few weeks of over 80%. How do I know, well we surveyed everyone. From children to adults, of all ages. Some were hospitalised. Most had strong symptoms, like myself for 7 to 10 days.

One thing you can rely on China is they lie, tell more lies and lie on top of the lies and then 'throw the rattle out of the pram' if anyone questions them.

We know that Thailand bends over and touches its toes and spreads them for what China wants. My advice is don't trust them. People have short memories. Remember in the Chinese mindset Covid 19 didn't happen in Wuhan and across China, and they denied it for months and are still denying it.

That should be a reminder.

The Thai Minister of Public Health announced on Tuesday, January 3rd, that Thailand will not implement lockdown or strict regulations in response to the easing of harsh travel restrictions that is soon to take effect in China next Sunday.

Shame they didn't do that 2 years ago... Thailand would be in better shape.
