MANY SENATORS WOULD almost certainly take the people’s decisions to be made in the next general election into account and endorse a partisan contestant for prime minister who may be supported by most MPs, said Senator Wanchai Sonsiri today.

Wanchai categorically dismissed speculation that most of the 250 senators would rather pick either Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha who is contesting to retain power under the Ruam Thai Sang Chart banners or Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan who is vying for head of a post-election government under the Palang Pracharath tickets and nobody else.

The lawyer-turned-senator contended that many of his colleagues in the Senate would respect the people’s votes in the nationwide election and would likely pick a partisan contestant for prime minister in line with a majority of the elected MPs, totally accounting for 500, who may manage to set up a post-election coalition of their own just before the contender is successfully named and given their decisive support.

And he kept a straight face while saying it.

We all know what is going to happen, and it won’t be pretty. Get ready for uprising and Coup to control it, if they even make it that far. Chinese are coming back so the cases of Covid will rise and even though it’s like a cold the military will have to step in to take control of the country for its own safety. Here we go again.

Why would the military have a coup d'etat for what they already control?

so the person that gets to most individual votes will be PM ?

why not just put it to the people ...................... like have a democratic election for PM

## nonsense

I know this much ..................they are playing with fire, if Prayuth Prawit Anutin are not ejected and dumped I suspect there will be big trouble here - the people of Thailand need people they vote for running the country - there is so much hate for the above 3 that I am detecting - how on earath could any of them be in government is beyond me

All these junta-appointed Senators know quite well what to take into account: their own senate seat being most precious, gollum.

Let the senator's vote buying begin.  If that fails to produce the desired outcome a coup will take place.  It's not like Thailand is not used to military coups.

How many military coups has Thailand had?

Placing it at the top of the list of countries that have had military coups, Thailand has had 22 coups in the last 100 years. In two years during the last 100 years, there were two of them.
