Thai Rath reported with dramatic CCTV from two angles after a primary school teacher in Roi-Et, north eastern Thailand, tried to rob a gold shop.

It happened at the Yaowarat gold shop at the Rajabhat Roi-Et University at 10.30 am yesterday.

Yesterday was a day off for many teachers being Teachers' Day in Thailand.

CCTV from inside the shop showed a woman in lots of clothing. She then runs off with an item before CCTV from outside the shop shows a woman staffer kick the would-be robber off her escape motorcycle.

With the help of another woman and a man who arrives on the scene the thief is led back to the shop.

The plucky ladies who foiled the robbery were Arapiya Klangthaisong and Niracha Suriyo, both 28.

The local police booth responded to their emergency call.

They said that the woman had spent a long time in the shop deciding whether to buy a gold bracelet of 2 baht weight (worth about 60,000 baht).

She said she was going to get money at an ATM and came back five minutes later to say she had done that and wanted the bracelet she had been looking at.

The staffer said it needed to be officially weighed but the customer asked for a chance to try it on again then ran out.

The thief turned out to be a 32 year old primary teacher at a private school in Thawat Din Daeng sub-district of Roi-Et.

Chanima Cheunta, from Yasothon, said that she had lost money in a failed second hand car business in Bangkok and decided to go back to the NE to teach.

She was still hounded by creditors and made the decision to go for some quick money.

That didn't work out now her future is ruined on Teachers' Day.

And this kids is how not to rob a gold shop

This smells of desperation or maybe a new pastime activity for Thai teachers?
