One way onward travel required?

Recommended Posts

Mom is coming to Thailand with a one way ticket plans to get passport stamped in BKK for a 30 day TV. Can anyone confirm if the USA carrier will require a onward flight out of Thailand at some point around her 30 day expire. Her intentions are to move to Thailand and stay with our family. Thank you

The airline at departure may require an onward flight.

You can buy a cheap throw away ticket or Google companies such as "onward flight.com"

By "move to Thailand" what's that mean?

Obtain a non O retirement and subsequent extensions

You mention stamped in for 30 days then type TV.

Tourist visa gives 60 day stamp

Think you mean visa exempt entry.

To obtain a non O retirement the critical thing is for her to have a Thai bank account in her name only.

Also the application for the non O needs to be made with 15+ days remaining on her permit.

She can obtain a 30 day extension to the visa exempt entry.

Thank you yes correct arrive at airport get a visa exempt entry then complete the next steps. We are getting an agency to assist in the process because my mom is 77 years old and want things to go as smooth as possible for her without any major issues. I did a non o visa based on marriage and have had it the past 5 years doing annual renew but feel it would be in Mom best interest to have an agency for her.

If you will use an agency i dont think you need to worry to much.

Agencies will and should take care all.

Also it sounds like you already found and connect with an agency. I dont think so but if they suggest something maybe to do better, just do it.

Again it will be agency's thing to do the 'magic'.. so dont think or worry too much.

Hope your mom will enjoy thailand.

Why doesn't your mom just apply for a Non-O before coming? With it, there is no need for an onward ticket.

It's an option.

The fact that MANY choose to obtain the non O in Thailand speaks volumes

Also poster mentions use of agent. Most likely best option is to have agent handle it all.

Onward flight is a minor issue covered in many threads.

Note that "Visa Exempt" is currently 45 days.  No way to know how long that will stay in place.

I have a uk neighbor who  obtained his non o 10 years ago in England and has been advising our Welsh neighbor that there is no options such as (obtaining a non o in Thailand)!

I explained to them several times this is how I got my Non O

after coming from the USA on a SETV. He shrugged his shoulders and says it must be a USA agreement with Thailand.

My compliments Drjack54 I’ve seen many of your posts over the many months . It’s been all good.

No offense to your friend however let him know that his advice is wrong.

Many folk are opting to obtain non O after entry to Thailand.

The option of obtaining non O in home country is certainly also an option.
