arcturaz Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Does anyone have any experience transporting household items such as furniture air conditioners etc by train in Thailand? I imagine this would fall under the heading of freight or cargo transport by rail. I plan on moving from Chiang Mai to Phuket later this year. If anyone has any experience in this area, especially price information, I would greatly appreciate a response. Thank you
Popular Post marin Posted February 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2023 Sorry to tell you there is no train to Phuket. You can get your gear BKK/Surat Thani, but its going to be by truck and overland after that. You should look into the logistics of doing it all by large or small truck depending on your needs. 2 1
FritsSikkink Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 No experience but it seems a very complicated option as there is no direct train. How would you get your stuff on the train in CM? How would you move it to another train in BKK? How would you move it to your place in Phuket? 1
KhunBENQ Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I was thinking back and forth but it seems clear that you have to find a truck transport. I tried to find anything like a professional mover in Chiang Mai but like elsewhere it seems a rare species. Would you think your stuff fits in a single "cargo/delivery" pickup? For a privately organized transport you would need such a pickup, two drivers and give it two to three days door to door. It's almost 1000 miles (1600 km) so do some math about rental, fuel both ways, drivers payment and expenses. 1 1
1FinickyOne Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Why don't you just contact a moving company or freight forwarder... ? 1
