user70 Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I have a car registered in Thailand. I know I can enter Malaysia, and likely Singapore. If I take a ferry from Malaysia or Singapore with my car, will Indonesia let my car in? If so, what's the paperwork/taxes/etc.? Both Thailand and Indonesia drive on the left with cars with steering wheel on the right side.
Popular Post Gottfrid Posted February 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted February 12, 2023 Yes, of course you can. For documentation I would refer to Transport Department for respective country. 3
MJCM Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Info a bit old, but maybe good as a guideline? http://wikioverland.org/Indonesia Quote Entering Indonesia with a Car or Motorbike Correct as of: September 2013 Required Paperwork (To check if you need a travel Visa for Indonesia, application instructions and fees see: Indonesia Visa online application at VisaHQ.com)If shipping into Indonesia Carnet de Passage Vehicle registration A letter of invitation from the Indonesian Motor organization (Ikatan Motor Indonesia) Letter from the local police International Driving Permit Passport 2
MJCM Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 This is for Singapore https://onemotoring.lta.gov.sg/content/onemotoring/home/driving/entering_and_exiting_singapore/foreign-vehicles-not-registered-in-malaysia.html 1 1
dddave Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Probably in MJCM's link, but you need a "Carnet", essentially a passport for a vehicle.

I haven't read any of the MJCM info. so I may be speaking out of turn, but I believe accident insurance is needed for each country. I have no Idea about how to get it though.

VocalNeal Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Then the answer to his question is probably, no it is not possible to drive a car to Indonesia. Not what documents he needs.
