Knowing the British he's probably already married a bargirl and living in a dump in Pattaya or Buriram.

They'll find him.

Indeed.

If he's smart he'll be in Pattaya. All he's got to do to disappear into the crowd is shave his head, get a Chang vest, some bad tats and curse 5 times in every sentence. They'll never find him.

Do British police not confiscate passports when a suspect is charged?

The time has come that those apprehended by the U.K. police forever should have all travel documents / passports taken from them whilst further investigations are taking place

hahah thats out of a dictators notebook.. apprehended does not mean guilty.. slippery slope

How does that sit with the central tenet of innocent until proven guilty? Whilst that doesn’t apply in this case (awaiting sentencing) your suggestion is before even being charged !

agreed

You couldn't wait to shoehorn your ignorant nationalist post into the OP story of a convicted thug suspected of being in Thailand could you?

<deleted> have boat people got to do with this?

How is this suggestion:

After the suspect is charged the police could then enter his information into the border control database and thereby flagging him if he attempts to travel abroad.

Being charged isn’t the same as guilty and beforehand still presumed innocent. Charged with Very serious crimes the CPS can apply for the subject to be remanded in custody or if a flight risk to surrender passport ,but the court has to agree this. Furthermore as a uk citizen you are not stamped out by immigration.

Following arrest and questioning you are given police bail to return to the police station on a particular date pending their decision whether to; 1) Take no further action 2) Issue a police caution 3) Charge you with an offence. Sometimes you can return upon that date to be told that they need more time and you are again bailed to another future date. Whilst on police bail they are not permitted to restrict travel.

he is past all the police involvement, he has already appeared in magistrates court, failed to turn up at crown court

If you are granted bail it is perfectly possible one of the conditions maybe the giving up of your passport so you cannot flee the country.

the Bobby's will no doubt have a peek into all the GoGo's at the taxpayers expense.

If it would stop the British cops from being so woke and soft snowflakes, then I'd be quite happy for them to use a little taxpayer's money to enjoy themselves in a GoGo bar before heading home with this convicted criminal in tow.

Must have seen 10 people looking like this beared guy so far today.

True, the time to deprive him of his passport was at first court appearance (magistrates' court). He then went on court bail. As I understand to extradite someone there has to be; 1) Extradition agreement between the Countries concerned 2) Already convicted (or concrete case) 3) Only for the most serious offences e.g. murder.

Offering bail without securing travel documents is more common than not.

Seems like a lot of quality people come to Thailand from Western countries.  Not only the ones that couldn’t make it there. That blame their personal downfalls on everything except themselves. But criminals also.  No wonder they call this the LOS.

I hear the Chinese have been in the local news quite a lot lately for being the "wrong" type of person. It's not just Western people who can be undesirable.

What do you expect?

Nicholas Cash was last week found guilty at Bournemouth Crown Court of charges including coercive control, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and administering a poisonous or noxious substance with intent.

"Nick Cash" can't be his real name, can it?

"could have travelled to Thailand but this could not be confirmed".

Why even publish this?

He could be in The Fulklands or fighting in The Ukraine.

Who knows?

Hopefully he will get a good bashing in Thailand and then deported to HMP in UK  nasty brute

The force said it believed Cash, who lived in Bournemouth, could have travelled to Thailand but this could not be confirmed.

A quick letter to the Thai Immigration service - sent by DHL as Royal Mail appear to be using the "slow boat to China" should get a response - especially if a £50 note is attached to the request.

Just another deluded Brit trying it our in Thailand.

Very good that he is arrested. Thailand must not give refuge to all western criminals who attempt to flee the justice of their homelands.

Any news otherwise  about the redbull heir case ?

Yet I have never heard of one case of a single expat UK pensioner unfreezing his pension by pretending to live in Britain and still getting his 'cold weather' payments.

I suspect they are requested to turn them in.... but since they have been convicted of nothing yet, I am not sure that it is obligatory. Certainly a concern that dangerous suspects can hop on a plane at Heathrow.

Because it raises an awareness of people in Thailand to him being a wanted man.
