Need Help With Yahoo Voip Connection Through Messanger

Featured Replies

I recently got set up on Yahoo Messenger, got my girlfriend to buy a headset and now we can talk everyday for free. Good deal. We spoke for a few days and now, for reasons unknown to me (for the last 3 days) she can hear me speaking, but I can not hear her. We can still IM, and she says her headset plugs are connected properly. The only thing I can get from her is "not work, have problem". She knows to match up the mic plug & pin icons and to do the same for the speakers/earphones pin & plug.

Does anyone have a clue what the problem may be and a possible fix that I might be able to get to her. I have spoken to people here in the US, so I am pretty sure it is not a problem on my end.

Unsure if it matters, but I usually use Mozilla rather Internet Explorer. Not sure what she is running.

Thanks for any help you may offer, Tagaa

You should try remote assistance or VNC or something to check the software on the machine. Headsets generally dont really have a lot to go wrong with them, so it might be something really simple like the mic mute checkbox is checked or the sound device she's using is incorrect. If she's in Samui I and local to me I can maybe help.

May I disagree with this statement? My son worked himself through 3 headsets (cheap ones) in one year because he can't sit still when talking. This results in a lot of movement of the cables that go into the headset.

The cables are so thin, sometimes only 1 or 2 strands of copper and they easily break even if there is no physical damage visible from the outside.

My suggestion to the OP is to try an other headset or a stand-alone mic for testing.

She is in Mukdahan...so not convenient to Samui 5555. Head set is new within the last 2 weeks. I suggested she return it & try another. She is having a friend come by to look, so hopefully they will be able to correct what ever has gone amiss.

Thanks for the replies.

If she can get into the volume controls have her check the mic volume and make sure it is not tagged 'mute'. Some software may have fumbled around with the controls.

Also while online ask her to touch the cable near the headset and move it in all directions, if you get an occasional sound through you know where the problem is.
