BANGKOK (NNT) - China’s ambassador to Thailand, Han Zhiqiang, has predicted that Chinese tourist arrivals to Thailand will surge to over 300,000 in April, providing a major boost to the kingdom’s tourism industry.

The remarks were made during the ambassador’s recent meeting with Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew to discuss strengthening ties between Thailand and China, as well as ways to increase tourism to Phuket and beyond.

The meeting’s agenda included Thailand’s ambition to host the Specialized Expo 2028, the province’s plans to establish sister cities in China and ways to boost tourism between the two nations.

Phuket has been a popular tourist destination since China lifted its travel restrictions in January, with the average daily arrival of Chinese tourists reaching 20,000.

Phuket’s Provincial Administrative Organisation is planning to host a traveling roadshow in Shanghai, Chengdu and Nanning, in collaboration with the private sector, to further promote tourism.

The southern province has already established tourism ties with several cities in China, including Yantai, Hainan, Ningxia Hui, Guilin, Yanjiang, Xiamen and the Macau special administrative region.

Officials said the visit by Ambassador Han also serves as a positive development for Phuket’s tourism sector, which has already seen a significant increase in Chinese tourist arrivals since the lifting of travel restrictions.

The planned traveling roadshow in China is expected to further promote Phuket as a popular destination for Chinese visitors.

Doesn't add up to me, numbers are made up.

My stepson and his live-in just when there for a vacation.  He posted pictures on Facebook.
That's as close to Phuket as I personally want to be.

Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. They've got many steps to go before returning to the Chinese-portion of the 40 million annual visitors.

Really? With a plane holding about 300 people, and if that was all chinese tourists, then that's 67 planes from China a day full to the brim. Looking at BKK I see nothing like that arriving. More like 4. And Phuket 2.

If they stay for a week you'd have 140000 people there at one time, all chinese and need about 70000 hotel rooms. There'd also be some pretty sore bowlegged bar girls.

I still remember the large group of Chinese in a fish restaurant in Pattaya.

Some were falling about drunk, others swilling beer from large bottles, others were singing loudly- more like shouting- a man ( in his string vest) decided to gob and spit this on the floor, a woman became unruly and obnoxious, a lot of bones, tissue, debris was all around their table.

Yes indeed, class quality tourists. Bring over the hordes.

hmmmm....goody..... more chinese hordes

YIPEE! ????????

Thankfully, we will not be seeing any of them near Surin. ( I hope ).

Continue to stimulate the economy.....

Things are looking up.

Racism of any kind should be not allowed, especially when you are guest in a foreign country.

Hate to tell you this but the Chinese have there own places to hang out and here in CM have never seen one buying a beer let alone a girl in a bar.

Zero would be a much better number.

Only woke, boring, squeaky crean opinions are arrowed

So does this mean the World's 4th 5th and 6th largest airlines will start flying after April?

That would be the USA.

Historically, they're quite clever that way.
