Thailand’s Election Commission (EC) may hold the upcoming election on Sunday May 14th, but not later than May 24th, after the promulgation of the Royal Decree to dissolve the House today (Monday), according to Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam.

Between now and election day, he said that ministers who have not quit will continue to perform their duties while engaging in election campaigning, as he advised them to adhere to the EC’s guidelines covering what they can and cannot do.

For instance, he said that a minister can attend a wedding ceremony and present gifts to the married couple, but cannot take to the stage to give a speech. Mobile cabinet meetings cannot be held during the period and events which draw many people together cannot be hosted by a minister, except for annual events such as the Songkran festival.

Gotta have it over a long holiday weekend so folks can travel back to the province and then the day after as a holiday to travel back to where they live....so from May 11th to the 15th looks like a long weekend since May 11th is the Royal Ploughing Ceremony.........

According to my calendar May 11 is not a holiday , and falls on a Thursday. May 11 to 15 is not a long weekend for Bank Holiday purposes.

Edit Royal Ploughing Ceremony is only a government holiday not a public holiday.

Since the "provincial vote" almost certainly favours the opposition parties I should imagine that they will ensure that travel is made as difficult as possible.

Prayut as emergency caretaker laid out by the courts and royal degree.

[the coup that isn't a coup]

With Wissanu Krea-ngam (jurist, independent politician and indispensable coat tail ballast) as Deputy Prime Minister with specific responsibilities for constitutional interpretation and redrafting.

The parade of trucks with signs and loudspeakers started on Sunday in the Pranburi Area and along the beach road from khao Lak to Pak Nam Pran.  Posters are on all the light poles etc.....let the insanity go for 2 more mo the. Glad I live in a small gated enclave up against the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other side at the end of a empty Soi with only Palm and coconut trees around us, and pineapple fields.
