Siam Rath reported that Immigration 1 police had been contacted by a scared foreign tourist who had been at a bar in Sukhumvit Soi 22, in the Soi Cowboy area.

 

The tourist said that the owner of the bar threatened him with a shotgun, something that was witnessed by many other customers.

 

Police soon discovered that the owner of the bar is a Thai man called Rak who has frequent posts on social media such as Facebook showing his love for guns.

 

He pictures himself with all kinds of weaponry.

 

But a background check revealed he had not a single gun license to his name.

A search warrant was obtained and his bedroom above the bar - itself decorated in shooting and gun related pictures - was opened up by another lady.

 

Rak had got wise to the raid and disappeared.

 

An unlocked safe had a gun and several different types of ammunition for various weapons.

 

There was also a rather menacing "gun lighter".

 

Rak will be facing prosecution under gun laws at Thong Lo police station.

 

When they find him.

Soi 22 is in the "Soi Cowboy area"??  Nothing like getting a sleazy word in the headline!

I wonder why he threatened the customer. will we ever know? Will there be another standoff shootout when/if they do find him? 

I think anyone with a gun phobia and collection will one day want to brandish one to show off, especially if the temptation gets a grip after a few sherbets........

Soi 22 is in the middle of Soi Cowboy which lies between Asoke and Soi 23, Soi 23 being the soi that is at the very end of Soi Cowboy.  Many Foreigners live in the condos on Soi 23.

Nothing serious...a few wais should be ok.

Nonsense.  Soi 22 is on the other side of Sukhumvit road and is a good 15 minute walk from soi Cowboy. I should know, I used to live there.

Sukhumvit Soi 22 is on the other side of the main Sukhumvit Road - a 10 minute walk away!

no, 22 is on the other side of Sukhumvit, all the odd numbered sois are on the north side of Sukhumvit, 

Asoke is 21, 23 is Prasanmit, the soi after, Cowboy is between the two

Nah I think that's Rooster winding us up.

Had some great late nights in that bar. Often until dawn. On a sub soi down Sukhumvit 22. Always friendly and never any drama. Can't say I know the owner, but the staff and fellow drinkers always pleasant and fun. No mention of when this event occured, however we were there at 3am on Saturday just gone. Never a good idea to <deleted> anyone off.

Probably felt that the tourist was looking down on him or making him lose face by existing. ????

 

Do they even need a reason at the moment?  Probably a lot of resentment over reliance on tourism and negative press on foreigners right now.

Absolutely correct, my mistake as I was thinking it was the small little side street in Soi Cowboy which goes no where, Soi 22 is what I know as Soi Sai Nam Thip

Sukhumvit soi 22 is hundreds of meters from Soi Cowboy on the even side of Sukhumvit, you have no clue.

Again with the immigration police responding to criminal matters.

Immigration is a police department, you are not in farangland now.....

Yes we know that the location and address in the article is wrong. Get over it and move on.

What's more important is what was the bars name? Anyone know the name of the bar in question?

Of course i don't read the whole thread first because then I should jump to all the different pages while looking for the comments i want to answer to. Do you read up to 100 pages before you start answering? Don't thinks so. What would be the cut off amount to not read everything first.
