Popular Post webfact Posted March 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2023 By Samantha Murphy Kelly (CNN) — Some of the biggest names in tech are calling for artificial intelligence labs to stop the training of the most powerful AI systems for at least six months, citing “profound risks to society and humanity.” Elon Musk was among the dozens of tech leaders, professors and researchers who signed the letter, which was published by the Future of Life Institute, a nonprofit backed by Musk. The letter comes just two weeks after OpenAI announced GPT-4, an even more powerful version of the technology that underpins the viral AI chatbot tool, ChatGPT. In early tests and a company demo, the technology was shown drafting lawsuits, passing standardized exams and building a working website from a hand-drawn sketch. hotchilli Posted March 29, 2023 Posted March 29, 2023 As was the internet, designed for good but can be corrupted. AI is a useful tool, but it needs guidelines first to prevent misfortune.

Credo Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Everyday Musk becomes a more and more obvious narcissist. I have a feeling if he were involved in it, then it would fall into the category of free speech. I've had the opportunity to use it. It's helpful, but I did ask it a few questions that it got wrong. Very wrong, as in not even close to correct. I think for many, the internet and all the associated technology long ago took control of our lives.
vandeventer Posted April 3, 2023 Posted April 3, 2023 Musk is educating us more and more each day, what a great man. https://fb.watch/jGvzsS397g/ 1 1

The idea of brain interfaces is also not new. In 1984 a friend developed an incredibly simple brain-keyboard interface that monitored external brainwaves from the visual cortex. The user looked at a keyboard whose keys rapidly blinked a color (like red) one at a time. Look at the letter A and the visual cortex responses 'red' precisely when the letter A turns red. He began working on this after he was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor in his brain stem. 1
300sd Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 They are allowing this AI computing to write its own code without parameters. Elon Musk has been speaking of this for many years now. What's to stop them (from killing humans) when they are more intelligent? 1
markclover Posted April 4, 2023 Posted April 4, 2023 We can already make strikingly beautiful works of art using AI. Even experts can't tell the difference and have been duped on various occasions. I am looking forward to AI music (technically far easier to achieve than visual art given the rigid structure of music). AI music will obliterate the music industry. Perhaps that's why this technology has been held back.
rabas Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Here it comes. OpenAI threatened with landmark defamation lawsuit over ChatGPT false claims In addition to disruption from what AI can do, blindly believing AI may cause even more. 1 1
ozimoron Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Well, that didn't age well. More Musk lies. He was just trying to buy some time. Maybe he has terminal cancer and wants to spend all his money before he dies? Elon Musk founds new artificial intelligence company called X.AI Musk has been publicly skeptical of the future of artificial intelligence in the past and has even called for a complete AI development pause, citing “risks to society” he says the technology poses. “Recent months have seen AI labs locked in an out-of-control race to develop and deploy ever more powerful digital minds that no one – not even their creators – can understand, predict, or reliably control,” a group of tech experts including Musk said in an open letter calling for the development pause last month. “In the sense that it has the potential — however small one may regard that probability, but it is non-trivial — it has the potential of civilization destruction,” he said. https://thehill.com/policy/technology/3952116-elon-musk-founds-new-artificial-intelligence-company-called-x-ai/ It does seem like that's his goal.
