Incumbent Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today (Tuesday) that he is happy with 22 as the election number of his United Thai Nation Party, saying that any number is fine for him. A senior member of the Thai Liberal Party, however, says 22 may not be a lucky number.

Prayut said that the election numbers alone may make it easier for voters to remember the parties for which they will vote, but the policies of each party are what people vote for or against, adding that the United Thai Nation Party will continue the policies already implemented by the government.

Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, a former election commissioner and, currently, strategy chief of the Thai Liberal Party, pointed out that 22 could invoke memories of May 22nd, 2014, when the military, led by General Prayut, staged a coup and overthrew the government of then Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Probably will be jolly busy - 3 weeks after he lost the election, he will be well into "coup mode" by then.

I wonder what Orwellian title the Junta will give themselves this time?

"National Council for maintaining the quality of condensed milk on coconut ice-cream"?

National Organization of Powerful Elites (aka NOPE)?

Yep.

There are a few of us that realize that nothing's gonna change.

If not reflected in May........than not too long after.

They'll figure a way as they always do.

They will try, no doubt. I am less than convinced that it will work this time, certainly without serious opposition.

A number of "dynamics" have changed. In particular one very specific "dynamic" which exercised immense control over popular reaction, has changed dramatically.
