THE gruesome kidnap-murder of a Chinese music student last week has led to Metropolitan police rescanning the background of Chinese nationals who have come to Thailand and look into pending cases, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Apr. 5).

 

Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, deputy chief of Metropolitan Police Bureau, said all metropolitan units had been ordered to reexamine pending cases involving Chinese nationals, including ransom-kidnapping, over the past year to see if there is any similarity to this one and if so inform the headquarters.

 

Currently there are three Chinese embezzlement cases in the metropolitan area.

 

Aside from all metropolitan police units rescanning the background of Chinese citizens who have come here, immigration police will also be checking retroactive surveillance records in neighbouring countries.
