Please help with overstay?

If you are on overstay now, you won't get any extension. You needed to apply for an extension a week before the month ends. You could be arrested at immigration if you go to immigration while on overstay.

#1 - It will depend on the number of days overstay, whether Immigration will be inclined to provide you with an extension (and of course the 500,- THB per overstay day fine).

But more than 6 days overstay is definitely borderline and Immigration might refuse to issue the extension, and instead provide you - on top of the fine - with a 7-days permit to leave the country.

#2 - Being on overstay is always risky, because if you are stopped by police and asked for your passport (e.g. because of a traffic accident) they normally won't let you go to regularize your situation at the Imm Office.

It seems you did not read it.

"Since the immigration offices are closed on weekends, I could only go there on Monday (I stay in Phuket)"

that was for holiday closed Imm. office.

My understanding is that even a short overstay can get you arrested, sent to IDC (Immigration Detention Centre), deported, and banned from Thailand for 5 years.  Your stay at IDC will not be nice and could last 2 weeks or more.

Any overstay is a bad idea and you need to fix it as fast as possible.  Perhaps an immigration office can help or you need to leave the country and pay a fine of 500 baht/day on the way out.

Going to immigration while you are on overstay is asking for trouble. Needs to pay the fine at the border and leave the country.

When you are on a long overstay, it is unlikely you could clear it at Immigration. Most likely, they will simply tell you to leave Thailand via an airport without delay. However, they might decide to have you arrested.

If you are on a short overstay (say, seven days or less) there is virtually no risk involved in attending the immigration office, and it is likely that you will be able to clear the overstay (paying a fine) and receive any extension of your permission to stay for which you are eligible.

So wrong it is stupid. Going to immigration to sort out your overstay is not "asking for trouble" at all, getting arrested or stopped on the way to immigration or the border is when there is trouble.
