Sanook Thai Caption: Deliberately went into people splashing Songkran water

Sanook reported on a road rage incident that happened on the final day of the Songkran festival at Si Khio market in Nakhon Ratchasima, NE Thailand.

A video showed a Toyota Vios smashing into another vehicle and then deliberately reversing to cause yet more damage.

The footage appeared on the Facebook page of Kraisorn Yawongsa.

Sanook speculated that the driver of the Vios was irritated by being unable to get out of the market as people splashed water.

They said he was dragged out of the car drunk and the vehicle was now parked at the police station.

Montree, a factory supervisor in Soong Noen was released on Sunday, however.

Surachai, 33, a Chevrolet driver who was playing Songkran splashing at the scene described the incident that left his vehicle - uninsured - with much damage.

He called on the road rage man to pay up for the damage.

There were no reports of injuries.

Of course... No one in the Thai media recognises he may have had enough of the ridiculously loud music coming from the pickup and was specifically targeting that ?

At the end of our road (on a 3 lane main road) a pickup had parked, one of these with loads of speakers in the back... The owners had been thoughtful and put a ‘cone there’... is if that makes blocking the road OK....  as if the cone gives some authorisation for the ridiculously loud music.....

Songkran... Its kind of like the ‘Purge’ if anyone has seen that movie - its a day (or couple of days) where there simply is no law or common sense.

"The Purge".......that's good,  I like that.

My perception is that one does not have to travel far to find it at any time of the year in Thailand.

The frenzy is always just a wrong look/word away.

Land Of Savagery?

Som Nam Na khun Surachai.
Lucky that you are not involved in another accident and leave "Compulsory Insurance" others with their damage.
In Thai they say "Som Nam Na" and in English they say "GO F..K YOURSELF".

High time that the minimum compulsory insurance was upgraded to include damage to other vehicles and property, as in Western countries.

They will never do that, unfortunately. This stupid, Thailand only, insurance scam keeps the economy rolling. Both my car and pick up are too old to get any decent coverage. Even if I am willing to pay.

He was far from alone. Very many Thais only have the basic compulsory insurance. which pays for no damage -just limited medical costs and a death payment. Only when they buy a new car do they normally have 1 year free fully comprehensive insurance, but invariably cannot pay for another year.

High time that the minimum compulsory insurance was upgraded to include damage to other vehicles and property, as in Western countries.

But it wouldn't cover for drunken driving, as in this and many other instances.
