Thai tourism officials say people should make the most of a short window in which to travel to the Similan Islands, before they close temporarily for monsoon season. A report from the National News Bureau of Thailand says there’s only a month left to enjoy the islands, ahead of a planned closure from May 16 to October 15.

The islands, located in the southern province of Phang Nga, are a strong tourist draw, renowned for their beautiful beaches, clear water, and stunning coral reefs. The archipelago also boasts unique rock formations, including a rock that look like a sail, another that looks like a boot, and even one that bears a passing resemblance to Donald Duck.

The Similans have long been popular with scuba divers and snorkellers, while those who prefer to remain on dry land can hike to a viewpoint that offers a panoramic view over the water.
