It's all about being accountable for your actions.

I see lots of comments attacking the motorbike rental companies but at the end of the day people should be responsible, too many articles about foreigners coming to Thailand and doing things that they would never do back in their own countries.

It seems people are too quick to blame Thailand, it's not about Thailand it's about stupid people coming here and acting reckless.

These articles I read are about grown adults not children.

The headline is baiting 'injured young Brit'.

The guy is an adult.

Rubbish, try renting any vehicle in an first world country if you don’t have the correct permits ! Thailand is still third world. The legal companies that rent are also very well covered by legitimate insurance companies.

Glad to see the young man on road to recovery…. All moto rentals all over the world should legally be responsible that renter have valid motorcycle license and are offered insurance for a fee. If the rental shops don’t check then shut them down.

And the rental shop staff should ride behind the rented motorbike too make sure the renter doesn't drink alcohol , wears a crash helmet and doesn't do anything else which would invalidate the insurance

RUBBISH ????

It's against Thai law to rent a motorbike to a rider who doesn't have 'correct permits', license etc.

Thailand is not 3rd world, it's a developing country.

You seem Angry!

The world has become a begathon.

So many people looking for handouts, no shame these days.

No one is accountable, people always looking to blame others.

I am presuming the laws are there to ensure they do, and they will be highly liable if they do not do all the required checks, particularly if the driver causes death or injury. Thailand has a view of people being more responsible for themselves.
