Chinese Foreman and 23 Migrant Workers Arrested in Samut Prakan for Illegal Employment

Samut Prakan, Thailand - Immigration officers in Samut Prakan Province arrested a Chinese man who entered the country on a tourist visa but was found working as a foreman on a construction site.

 

Alongside him, 23 migrant workers were also detained. The arrests took place at a construction camp near the bridge over Khlong Pad in Moo 12, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, reported 77kaoded.

The operation was carried out at 5:00 p.m. on April 27, 2023, following the discovery of information suggesting the presence of illegal foreign workers. Pol. Col. Chinnawut Tangwonglert, Superintendent of Immigration in Samut Prakan, led the investigative team to inspect the construction camp, located near the bridge over the canal in Village No. 12, Bang Phli District.

Upon inspection, the Chinese man was charged with working as an alien without permission. The 23 Myanmar nationals were charged with living in the kingdom without permission or having an expired or revoked permit, as well as working without permission.

 

Both the Chinese man and the Myanmar workers were detained and sent to the investigators at Bang Phli Police Station for legal prosecution and potential deportation.

The Samut Prakan immigration office remains vigilant in their efforts to identify and apprehend illegal workers and those who employ them.

So now the construction will stop, how is that helping the ''well-being of all residents'' ?

Try and get Thais to do this work on a very minimal wage and the country would grind to a halt.

It's coming to the end of the month, Contractor has got no money to pay them, so get them arrested. 

 

It's not difficult for the Burmese to get a work permit, many here in Phuket I personally know 2 and they are all legal and above board,
