A complaint was lodged with the Office of the Ombudsman today (Friday) by Sonthiya Sawasdee, a political activist, asking the Constitutional Court to investigate Pheu Thai party’s campaign promise to distribute 10,000 baht in digital money to each of the 55 million Thai people aged over 16.

 

Sonthiya said in the complaint that such a manifesto promisemay violate Section 258 (2) and (3) of the Constitution, which could result in the dissolution of the party.

 

The political activist said that, according to the Pheu Thai party, the policy will require about 560 billion baht of funding, or about 20% of Thailand’s national budget.

Have you noticed that there are no problems or complaints about the UTN or any of the other coalition parties?

So losing in polls, trying to rig it again.

Maybe they should also check if that political party is remote controlled by a fugitive criminal. Or is that now legal in Thailand?

The people will not accept the Pheu Thai will be banned or dissolved, so stop this madness please and get rid of this man because he surely doesn't know what he is doing.... Interesting that the often-cited alleged pro-military influenced Court* might rule on the alleged complaint after it investigates a complaint related to a military opposition party. 

That would be an amazing feat of unbiased review.

In Western parlance "judge and jury" would be the same party, albeit there are no jury trials in Thailand.

Would there be any doubt in the Court's decision against the PTP based on evidenced produced by the Court itself?

Jim, Pheua Thai have just told voters to vote strategically to prevent Prayuth's return.

In other words don't vote for Move Forward, it's a wasted vote.

I told you before, PT don't like MF who are the real deal wanting meaningful reform. 

PT don't want significant change in Thailand, just offer the peasants some crumbs and try to bring back the paymaster.

What are you going to do when Pheua Thai team up with Pravit?

Move Forward is better than Pheu Thai.

Its a step by step process.

I can see PT winning this and the next election and Move Forward winning the next two after that.

Change / improvement is gradual.

Either way, the military / elites or on the outer for at least a generation.

That is very true.

The south has never had much interest in Thaksin.

What is also very true, is that the bulk of Thaksin's support has always come from the poorer sectors of society (predominantly from the north and north-east).

Whom does their supporter base consist of....is it upperclass, gentrified elites?

 

Thaksin's most effective policies were reducing rural poverty and the introduction of universal healthcare, allowing him to gather the hitherto-neglected support of the rural poor, especially in the populous northeast.

 

100% of the poor don't support Thaksin - the vast majority of them do.

So what is your point?

It should be illegal.  It's highly inflationary and it reeks of corruption.
