Baht Bus Pickpocket Thief Caught

Featured Replies

In the evening of Wednesday 4th July the Dongtan police were informed that an attempted pickpocket theft on a baht bus occurred in front of the

Pan Pan Restaurant; one woman was detained but two of the thieves had fled the scene.

The police quickly radioed a traffic police officer nearest to the scene to go make an arrest.

Two of the women thieves managed to escape but one was caught at the scene and taken to the station for questioning.

At first 37 year old Sunan denied all charges. However when the victim; Mr. Stephen John Sevfer, aged 63, an American who has been residing in Jomtien for 3 years arrived and pointed her out; she confessed.

When the police went through her records it was found that she is a member of a baht bus pickpocket gang that has 6 members in total, being 3 women and 3 men.

They were arrested earlier in March and at the moment are all out on bail while the court is still making judgment.

It is a shame that they did this because it means that now they will be sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in jail because they misbehaved while out on bail.

Sunan will have to give the police information on where the 2 thieves that got away are or else will face more charges.
